1)Arasan bath house: Some surfers love spa treatment. I recommend everyone to stop by at Arasan bath house. Arasan bath house consists of Russian banya, Finnish sauna,Turkish Hamam and swimming pool. You can get body massage, fish spa and some drinks there. Great place to get warmed and relaxed after long cold trip.

2)Panfilov Park: There is a Zenkov Cathedral (The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Ascension), eternal flame, massive WW2 memorial monument, museum and Chukotka bar&club in the park. Arasan bath complex is outside of the park on Kunaev street. Green Bazaar is also next to the park.

3)Gorky Park: There is an Almaty ZOO inside of the park. 15-20 minutes of walking distance from Panfilov park and Green bazaar.

4)Green Bazaar a.k.a. Zelenyi Bazar: If you'd like to get souvenirs, fruits/vegetables, clothings/shoes or anything you need - just go there. I usually go there on Saturdays to get some fresh fruits and vegetables. It's cheap there.

5)Arbat: Nice place of artists, street performance, emos and other sub-culture. Green Bazaar and Panfilov park are 10-15 minutes of walking distance from Arbat.

6)Old Square: Almaty's 2nd square. There is a KBTU building and parks around.

3)Zodiac Fountains: This fountain is surrounded by statues of the twelve zodiac signs.

4)French speaking surfers might be interested in attending events, organized by Alliance Française d'Almaty. It's located opposite to METRO Night club.

1)Republic Square: Almaty's main square with monuments, fountains and underground shopping center.

2)Central State Museum: Dinozaurs' bones, ancient kazakh foundings and so on. Museum building is pretty massive.

3)Kok-Tobe (Green Peak): Some people smile and laugh when they pronounce the first part of its name. One of the sights of Almaty with one zoo and panaroma view to the city. There is a cable car that goes up to the hill.

1)Medeo Ice skating stadium on top of the mountain: Bus #6 & #12 goes there from Hotel Kazakhstan on Dostyk ave. There is a bus stop opposite to hotel, on Dostyk ave. Just go there and get #6. Final stop of this bus: Medeo. Bus shuttles back and forth every hour. http://medey.kz/en/
2)Shymbulak Ski Resort: I've been there many times. It's a great place to snowboard or skiing. Buses #6 & #12 goes there from Hotel Kazakhstan. There is a bus stop opposite to hotel, on Dostyk ave. Just go there and get #6 or #12. Final stop of this bus: Medeo. Get off there and take a cable car to Shymbulak. Shymbulak is upper/higher than Medeo. http://www.shymbulak.com/en/
